Kendall's new ready-mix concrete plant in Shoreham, West Sussex

Kendall Group, part of Aggregate Industries, has opened a new ready-mix concrete plant in Shoreham, West Sussex.

The new facility marks a significant upgrade in equipment and operational efficiency, supporting the goal of serving Brighton and its neighbouring areas better, said a company statement.

The new ready-mix plant, situated at the Hove end of Shoreham Harbour, replaces the existing facility in New Wharf, Brighton Road, alongside a new strategic vision to improve operations and enhance environmental sustainability.

The upgrade involves the implementation of new, environmentally friendly equipment to replace outdated machinery, reflecting a commitment to innovation and eco-friendliness. The decision to relocate and upgrade has been in the works for over three years, leading to the start of construction at the beginning of 2023.

The facility's enhanced capabilities promise a significant boost in output potential and the ability to supply a broader spectrum of materials, offering a valuable advantage for the Brighton market.

The site's modernisation and increased capacity for material storage and various admixtures allow future production of diversified concrete types, catering to a wide range of construction needs.

Oliver Wilshire, commercial manager at Aggregate Industries, said: "With this new and advanced ready-mix plant, we've significantly elevated our capacity and efficiency in producing and supplying concrete to Brighton and the surrounding areas.

"The upgraded facility will not only double our concrete mixing speed, but also enable us to offer Cemfloor liquid screed product, positioning Aggregate Industries as the sole supplier for this product in Brighton.”

One of the standout features of the new plant is a new wharf facility which can accommodate large-scale aggregates supply via ship, enhancing the overall efficiency and logistics of material transportation. The added advantage of electric charging points for cars on site, and use of neighbouring solar panels, highlights Aggregate Industries' commitment to a sustainable future.

With the provision of a 13-cycle store and a living room demonstrates the company's dedication to employee well-being and convenience.

Aggregate Industries sees this upgrade as a pivotal move, aligning with their ambitious growth plans for the next decade.

The investment in cutting-edge infrastructure is expected to significantly contribute to the continued development of Brighton and its neighbouring areas by serving the growing demands of the construction industry.
