Reusing existing buildings
Venue
A one-day hybrid conference dedicated to best practice in the early stages of adaptive reuse projects through assessment, appraisal and design decisions.
Understanding an existing structure is the starting point to any reuse or retrofit project. Effective assessment, investigation and appraisal are critical to evaluating and justifying the continued use of an existing building.
Structural engineers therefore play a critical role in making the case for, and breaking down the barriers to, the transformation of more existing building stock in place of new build.
Through sessions aligned with Plan of Work stages 0 - 2 the conference programme will address:
Justifying investigations
Establishing feasibility
Assessment methods, tools and techniques
Making early design decisions
Dealing with risk
