Heidelberg Materials’ acquisition of Cava Nord adds quarrying, ready-mix, and recycling capacity in the Milan region.

Heidelberg Materials has expanded its operations in northern Italy with the acquisition of Cava Nord S.r.l., a family-owned supplier of aggregates and ready-mixed concrete based in Paderno Dugnano, near Milan.

The deal includes a quarry, two aggregates processing plants, an aggregates recycling facility, and two ready-mixed concrete plants. Cava Nord, founded in 1962, also specialises in the recovery of construction and demolition waste – aligning with Heidelberg Materials’ strategy to strengthen its circular economy offering.

The acquisition enhances the company’s vertical integration in a core European market and supports the supply of more sustainable construction materials. It forms part of Heidelberg Materials’ wider portfolio optimisation programme as it targets carbon neutrality and digitalisation across its operations.

Financial details of the transaction have not been disclosed.

Heidelberg Materials is one of the world’s largest building materials producers, with operations in 50 countries and a network of nearly 3,000 locations, including cement plants, quarries, and ready-mix sites.
