Nine new firms join Construct Zero’s Net Zero drive
The Construction Leadership Council (CLC) has announced the latest cohort of Construct Zero Business Champions, with nine more organisations joining the UK construction sector’s flagship Net Zero programme. The new intake brings the total number of Business Champions to 140, representing a wide cross-section of the built environment supply chain.
Among those joining are Action Sustainability, Ansell Lighting, GeoPura, Leadax, LoftZone, Merritt and Fryers, Powell Dobson Architects, Speedy Hire, and StrucLock. Each organisation has committed to measurable steps in reducing their carbon footprint and aligning with the Construct Zero programme’s nine priority areas, from transport and buildings to materials and supply chains.
Construction Leadership Council deputy co-chair Richard Robinson welcomed the new members: “To continue making progress across all nine Construct Zero priority areas, it’s vital that the CLC extends its reach to engage with firms of all types and sizes. I welcome our new Business Champions and invite others to consider the role they could play in the industry’s Net Zero journey.”
Backed by the UK Government and led by the CLC, Construct Zero is a sector-wide movement to coordinate construction’s response to the climate crisis. The programme supports delivery of Net Zero commitments through practical actions and public accountability, with each Business Champion required to publish a carbon reduction plan and share their progress.
Construct Zero also supports the government’s stated ambition to bring forward decarbonisation targets by 2035—an initiative highlighted in the Prime Minister’s address to COP29.
