Cemex UK has taken delivery of 20 new DAF XD 410 eight-wheel tippers as part of its ongoing vehicle replacement programme, further reinforcing its commitment to safety, sustainability, and fleet efficiency.

The trucks, fitted with Wilcox, Thompsons and CBR bodywork and supplied by Ford & Slater in Leicester, feature DAF’s 8x4 “FAD” axle configuration and come with a 4-Star Direct Vision Standard (DVS) rating as standard. This investment highlights Cemex’s continuing focus on protecting vulnerable road users and upgrading its aggregates fleet, which includes more than 100 eight-wheel tippers.

“The new DAF XD models offer a step change in visibility and overall safety,” said Nigel Ponton, UK fleet engineering manager at Cemex. “The truck’s 4-Star DVS rating aligns with our commitment to protecting vulnerable road users, while the mirrorless camera technology has exceeded our expectations. Our drivers now prefer the digital mirrors, which provide superior visibility and clarity.”

Each XD 410 is powered by the PACCAR MX-11 engine, offering improved fuel efficiency over the previous DAF CF models and other competitor vehicles, according to benchmark tests. Ponton noted that the trucks’ performance is expected to improve further as the vehicles bed in over time, contributing to lower emissions and better operational productivity.

Cemex also engaged drivers in the procurement process to ensure the trucks meet their needs. “The spacious cab design, ergonomic layout, and improved visibility create a more comfortable and productive working environment,” Ponton said.
