Cemex launches lightweight ReadyBlock Lite in UK

Neat, banded stacks of Cemex’s ReadyBlock Lite concrete blocks, which are designed for easier handling, lower carbon and improved thermal performance. Cemex’s ReadyBlock Lite concrete block is designed for easier handling, lower carbon and improved thermal performance.

Cemex UK has introduced a new ultra-lightweight concrete block designed to improve thermal performance and reduce carbon in line with upcoming regulatory changes.

ReadyBlock Lite, with a density of 950 kg/m³ and a thermal conductivity of 0.235, will help customers meet the revised Part L of the Building Regulations on energy efficiency. The blocks have been tested to BS EN 12664 for thermal performance and comply with BS EN 771-3 requirements.

Cemex said the product also offers a lower upfront CO₂e per square metre, supporting carbon reduction in the built environment. The blocks are part of the company’s Vertua range of lower-carbon products.

Sam Culshaw, national sales manager for concrete products at Cemex, said:
“Our new ReadyBlock Lite concrete blocks are designed to provide customers with a product that is less dense, easier to handle, and helps meet essential regulatory standards through enhanced thermal resistance and significant savings on CO₂ emissions. An additional benefit is that the blocks are made to order, meaning shorter lead times and quicker turnarounds.”

Cemex said ReadyBlock Lite will be available across its UK markets and will complement its existing ReadyBlock range of dense and medium-density concrete blocks.
