Cemex expands electric mixer fleet across EMEA
Cemex is expanding its use of electric ReadyMix trucks across its Europe, Middle East and Africa (EMEA) operations as part of its strategy to reduce transport-related emissions and improve urban logistics.
Following a successful pilot in Germany and the UAE in 2023, the building materials supplier has now deployed electric mixer trucks in France, Poland, the Czech Republic and Spain. Germany has also added seven more electric trucks to its fleet in 2025 alone.
Designed for urban delivery, the trucks offer up to 100% reduction in CO₂ emissions when powered by renewable energy and operate at significantly lower noise levels than traditional diesel-powered vehicles. Cemex says these features provide a double benefit for city-based supply chains: reducing local air pollution while improving quality of life for communities and other road users.
Matthew Wild, Cemex’s vice president for supply chain and procurement in EMEA, said: “Transport is one of the key areas where Cemex strives to reduce its CO₂ emissions, which is why we are investing in and implementing electric mixers across our EMEA operations. These trucks incorporate renewable energy sources, which enables us to provide more sustainable solutions for the transportation of ready-mix materials while also being a better neighbour and fellow road user.”
The new vehicles are equipped with modern safety features and are capable of transporting the same volume of concrete as standard mixers, making them a practical option for day-to-day use.
The move forms part of Cemex’s Future in Action strategy, which aims to decarbonise global operations and achieve net-zero CO₂ emissions by 2050. Transport innovation, including the integration of renewable energy sources into logistics, is a key element of this approach.
