Esh delivers £40m in civil works across Yorkshire
Esh Construction has secured more than £40 million in civil engineering work across Yorkshire and the Humber, with a further £60 million in the pipeline and a 20% increase in regional staffing.
The contractor is delivering a broad portfolio of infrastructure projects, including bridge refurbishments, sustainable transport corridors, and active travel schemes. In West Yorkshire, Esh has been appointed to deliver the Elland Access Package detailed design phase and has won a £6.4 million contract for the A638 Dewsbury–Cleckheaton transport corridor. In South Yorkshire, the business is progressing early design work for the Broom Road Phase 2 active travel route in Rotherham.
Work is also underway on Drypool Bridge in Hull, where Esh is carrying out major strengthening and refurbishment following an early contractor involvement phase with Hull City Council.
The firm’s expanding order book builds on a decade-long presence in the region and a strong track record on the YORhub civil engineering frameworks. “We’ve seen a 100% uplift in turnover from the same point in 2023,” said Steven Garrigan, divisional director at Esh. “Securing £40 million in live projects reflects both our delivery record and the strength of our client relationships.”
Recent completions include a new roundabout on the M181 for North Lincolnshire Council and a £4.4 million public realm scheme along the River Don in Rotherham. The company is continuing to hire across engineering, planning and project management roles, with a focus on long-term internal development.
Esh Construction is part of the Esh Group, which was recently recognised as one of Deloitte’s UK Best Managed Companies. The group reported turnover of £265 million in 2025 and holds an order book exceeding £2 billion.
