Betts Associates has appointed Laila Morris to its board as practice director, marking the latest step in a year of restructuring and growth for the Deeside-based civil and structural engineering consultancy.

Laila joined Betts 20 years ago as a receptionist and has since progressed through roles including accounts and practice management. In her new position, she will focus on strengthening internal collaboration and supporting the firm’s engineers and technicians.

“I’ve seen the business evolve through recessions and the pandemic,” said Laila. “I’m proud to bring new ideas and a different perspective to the board, ensuring our teams are well represented as we continue to grow.”

The appointment follows a wider board reshuffle which saw co-founder Mel Frimston become chairman, with Rob Ankers and Richard Nicholas promoted to managing director and director respectively.

Betts Associates provides structural, civil, geo-environmental and hydro engineering services across residential, industrial, commercial, and leisure projects throughout the UK.
