Law firm Irwin Mitchell has appointed Vijay Bange as partner and head of its national construction and engineering team, strengthening its legal expertise across the UK’s built environment sector.

Bange brings more than 30 years of experience in construction law and dispute resolution, having held senior roles at Trowers & Hamlins and Pinsent Masons. Most recently, he served as chair of the international arbitration division and construction lead partner at Duane Morris LLP in London.

Based in the firm’s London office, Bange will lead Irwin Mitchell’s construction and engineering practice with a focus on growth, expanding its arbitration offering and developing international work through the firm’s global network. His clients include developers, contractors, subcontractors, consultants and manufacturers, with projects spanning residential, commercial, infrastructure, manufacturing, engineering, energy and pharmaceuticals.

“I’m thrilled to join Irwin Mitchell at such an exciting time of growth,” said Bange. “The opportunity to shape and grow a national team, while leveraging my international network and sector experience, is something I’m looking forward to.”

Guy Sackett, national head of real estate at Irwin Mitchell, said Bange’s appointment marks another step forward for the firm: “His leadership, deep sector knowledge and proven ability to build successful teams will be instrumental in helping us deliver even greater value to our clients.”

Bange’s arrival follows the recruitment of Alex Delin from Fieldfisher as a construction disputes partner and complements Irwin Mitchell’s non-contentious construction practice led by Robert Tunningley.
