Milbank launches walkable EPS flooring system
Milbank Concrete Products has launched GDeck, a fast-fit ground floor flooring system combining prestressed concrete beams with integrated EPS insulation panels. Designed for thermal performance, walkability, and simplified installation, the new system supports faster build times and lower carbon construction.
The Suffolk-based precast specialist says GDeck aims to reduce on-site disruption by enabling follow-on trades to work without additional coverings. Unlike traditional beam and block floors, GDeck includes a pre-bonded top sheet, forming a walkable surface as soon as it’s installed.
“GDeck is the result of intelligent, installer-focused design,” said David Costin, innovation and strategy director at Milbank. “It simplifies ground floor construction, saves time, and helps developers meet energy efficiency targets.”
As well as being quick to install, Milbank GDeck has been developed with sustainability in mind. The system uses a low-cement concrete mix, EPS - expanded polystyrene – panels with 15% recycled content, and prestressed beams that reduce embodied carbon by up to 25% compared to conventional reinforcement.
Each GDeck system is tailored by Milbank’s in-house team, with full layout drawings and component traceability provided. The company says this combination of material efficiency and thermal performance supports wider industry efforts to lower both operational and embodied CO₂ emissions.
