The European Circular Composites Alliance (ECCA) has gained more than 160 members since its launch in May 2025, marking a strong start for the industry-wide initiative to advance circularity in composite materials.

Established by the European Composites Industry Association (EuCIA), the ECCA provides a shared platform for knowledge exchange, collaboration, and collective action to build sustainable value chains for composite materials. It also supports alignment with EU policy frameworks such as the Green Industrial Deal and the forthcoming Circular Economy Act, expected to be adopted in 2026.

The alliance now includes companies, research organisations, and associations from across Europe. Its five new working groups met in August to begin developing roadmaps towards greater recycling and reuse of composite materials. The first General Assembly will take place in Brussels on 4 December, bringing together ECCA and EuCIA members, EU Commission representatives and industry stakeholders.

Professor Roberto Frassine, president of EuCIA, said: “With the ECCA we aim to enable effective stakeholder engagement and build consensus within the value chain on the priority actions for the future. We will set measurable, transparent targets to track progress.”

Eric Pierrejean, CEO of JEC Group, a founding member of the Alliance, added: “This initiative perfectly aligns with our activities to promote circular solutions in the composites industry. We look forward to collaborating with the ECCA and its members as they take composites circularity to the next level.”

ECCA’s growth comes as the European Commission places circularity at the heart of its industrial policy agenda. The alliance will play a key role in addressing challenges such as scaling up recycling technologies, improving the uptake of recycled materials, and reducing waste across the composites lifecycle.

A full list of members, along with details on how to join, is available on the EuCIA website.
