New RMC batching plant approved for Mansfield Sand
Mansfield Sand Co Ltd has received planning approval from Mansfield District Council for a new sustainable ready mix concrete batching plant at its Crown Garm Way site in Forest Town, Nottinghamshire. The site, once part of the historic Mansfield Colliery, has been redeveloped for industrial use, with the company’s brick works operating since 2009.
The new ready mix batching plant will be located near the site entrance, minimising interference with existing site operations. While Mansfield Sand currently operates a batching plant on-site primarily for full-load concrete production used in block manufacturing, the new facility will offer smaller, customisable batches of concrete, mortar and screed, ranging up to 3 tonnes. Unlike traditional plants where large minimum orders are required this site will allow local builders and community members to purchase smaller quantities of materials, helping to addressing the concrete demand for small-scale projects.
The approval in April 2025, follows the original permission granted in 2008 for the construction of the brickworks, batching plant and offices at Crown Farm Way, representing an extension of the existing industrial development.
Operating hours for the new plant will be limited to 08:000-18:00 Monday to Friday and 08:00-13:00 on Saturdays, with no activity permitted on Sundays or Bank Holidays, in accordance with the original planning permission.
