Roger Bullivant Limited (RBL) has secured the piling package for a high-profile education and sports facility in Hackney, East London. The scheme will see the transformation of an unfinished building into a purpose-built home for The Boxing Academy, delivered by main contractor McLaren on behalf of the Department for Education and the Boxing Academy Trust.

RBL will deliver Continuous Displacement Auger (CDA) piles to depths of 13–14 metres, following mobilisation in early July. The piling method was selected for its efficiency and compatibility with the site's mixed ground conditions, which include made ground, Hackney Gravel, and London Clay.

Developed in-house by RBL’s research and development team, the CDA technique offers a low-spoil, high-capacity alternative to traditional CFA piling. It is particularly suited to constrained urban environments, where reducing waste, vehicle movements, and carbon emissions is a key consideration.

Ben Gough, regional operations manager at RBL, said: “We’re proud to be supporting McLaren on this landmark education and sports facility in Hackney. This project reflects our growing presence in the non-residential sector, where we continue to demonstrate our capability in delivering efficient, tailored piling solutions for high-impact community developments.”

The Boxing Academy scheme is considered a flagship for RBL’s urban project portfolio, showcasing both its sustainable construction credentials and its strategic shift towards non-residential infrastructure with lasting community benefits.
