Exeed Industries has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with carbon-negative concrete pioneer Partanna, marking a significant step towards greener construction in the UAE.

Announced at the Make it in the Emirates forum in Abu Dhabi on 20 May, the agreement outlines plans to explore the local production of Partanna’s cement-free, carbon-negative building materials, which not only eliminate CO₂ emissions but actively remove carbon from the atmosphere.

Under the MoU, Exeed and Partanna will assess the feasibility of establishing a brine conversion facility, a tolling operation, and a cement production plant in Abu Dhabi. These facilities would support the commercialisation of Partanna’s binder products, which are made without Portland cement—a material responsible for around 9% of global carbon dioxide emissions.

The collaboration will also focus on product certification, performance testing and alignment with UAE regulatory standards. Exeed plans to integrate the technology into its precast and concrete production operations.

Mohammad Alameer, group CEO at Exeed Industries, said: “We are excited to join forces with Partanna to champion green innovation in construction. This partnership aligns perfectly with our sustainability objectives and the UAE’s industrial decarbonisation goals.”

Partanna co-founder and CEO Rick Fox added: “This is an important milestone in our mission to scale global access to climate-positive construction materials. The UAE is a strategic market and global leader in sustainable construction, and Exeed’s deep industrial expertise makes them a match-winning partner.”

Founded to address climate resilience following Hurricane Dorian, Partanna has developed a binder technology that replaces traditional cement and permanently removes carbon from the atmosphere. The company has operations in The Bahamas, Saudi Arabia, and the US, and aims to remove 1 billion tonnes of CO₂ by 2050.

The deal positions Exeed and Partanna at the forefront of sustainable innovation, with the potential to scale low-carbon construction across the Gulf and beyond.
