New HSE module tackles work-related stress
The Health and Safety Executive (HSE) has launched a new online learning module under its Working Minds campaign, aimed at helping employers tackle work-related stress through more effective organisational strategies.
The module provides practical guidance for employers on how to assess risks, identify root causes of stress in the workplace, and shift focus from individual to systemic solutions. With mental ill health and stress among the top causes of work-related absence in the UK, HSE says the resource is designed to support employers in taking proactive steps to improve mental wellbeing.
The step-by-step content includes:
- What to include in a stress risk assessment
- How to identify and address underlying organisational issues
- Tools for implementing workplace-level interventions
Construction firms — including small businesses and site managers — are encouraged to access the free module to review internal procedures and support workforce mental health, particularly in high-pressure environments.
The new content builds on existing guidance available on HSE’s stress and mental health at work pages and complements downloadable templates and checklists already offered as part of the campaign.
Employers can register for the free online learning and subscribe to the Working Minds ebulletin for ongoing updates and resources.
The Working Minds campaign continues to promote a legal and moral duty for all employers to manage work-related stress, helping to create safer and more supportive working environments across all sectors — including concrete and construction.
