Oscrete launches low-carbon admixture

Oscrete’s Optomize Accel 600, a high-performance accelerated superplasticiser, is engineered for mixes with high supplementary cementitious material (SCM) content, helping reduce embodied carbon without compromising production efficiency or surface quality.

Oscrete has unveiled its latest innovation in admixture technology with the launch of Optomize Accel 600—a next-generation superplasticiser developed to enhance both sustainability and performance in precast and self-compacting concrete (SCC) production.

Formulated with advanced carboxylated polymer chemistry and a non-chloride accelerating system, Accel 600 enables high early strength gain and improved cold-weather performance, even in low cement-content mixes.

“Producers aiming to reduce the embodied carbon of their concrete by increasing the use of supplementary cementitious materials (SCMs) often face reduced early-age strength and increased viscosity,” said Matthew Gabriel, product development and sustainability manager at Oscrete. “Optomize Accel 600 is specifically engineered to overcome these challenges.”

By allowing for lower water/cement ratios and improved rheology, the admixture helps reduce shrinkage and supports faster mould-strike times without compromising workability. It is designed to be flexible in dosage and compatible with a range of precast and SCC applications.
