Sika expands waterproofing range with SikaProof A+
Sika has launched SikaProof A+, a next-generation bonded membrane system that completes its portfolio of waterproofing products for below-ground construction.
Engineered in Switzerland and built on Sika’s decades of experience in tunnelling and structural protection, the new membrane is designed to provide durable, flexible waterproofing for both new and existing concrete structures. It is based on the proven FPO Sikaplan membrane used globally for more than 50 years.
The SikaProof A+ membrane forms a continuous, fully bonded seal with the concrete, protecting against groundwater, aggressive soil chemicals and natural gases. It has high crack-bridging capability, resistance to ageing, and long-term durability, making it suitable for use in residential basements, commercial developments, station boxes and infrastructure tunnels.

It can be applied in two ways:
- Pre-applied: installed in the formwork before concrete is cast, creating a dual bond between membrane and concrete.
- Post-applied: fixed to existing structures, forming a robust external barrier for waterproofing and gas proofing.
A full range of accessory products supports the system, including specialist adhesives, primers, and jointing tapes. In addition, Sika has launched the new Waterbar FB-125, a fully bonded waterstop that embeds into fresh concrete to prevent lateral water flow at construction joints.
SikaProof A+ has already been used on several major UK schemes, including a 22,000m² basement project in St John’s Wood, London – the largest basement construction in the UK at the time.
Matt Smith, head of sales & technical for waterproofing at Sika, said: “SikaProof A+ embodies our commitment to trusted, high-performance construction solutions. It enhances structural integrity while resisting harsh environmental factors and integrates seamlessly with Sika’s wider product range.”
