Fixed concrete batching plant gets go-ahead for Cambrian Services

Cambrian Services Ltd

Cambrian Services Ltd has received planning consent for the installation and operation of a fixed concrete batching plant at Bryncir Quarry in Gwynedd, Wales.

The application, submitted in July 2025 and approved the following month, will see the replacement of existing mobile facilities with a permanent plant designed to enhance operational efficiency.

Cambrian Services Ltd, a family-owned business, provide quarrying, concrete, surfacing and stabilisation services across the UK. With an existing environmental permit issued by Gwynedd Council, the company has operated a mobile concrete batching facility at Bryncir Quarry since 2019.

The newly approved scheme involves the removal of the current mobile plant to make way for the installation of a fixed concrete batching plant, three material silos and associated equipment.  A secondary mobile plant, approved under prior consent, will be temporarily activated during the transition period to ensure uninterrupted supply and will remain on-site to support future operational if required.

Once operational, the new fixed plant will produce approximately 25,000 cubic metres of ready-mixed concrete annually, utilising around 45,000 tonnes of aggregates and 10,000 tonnes of cement and additives. The plant’s capacity matches that of the existing mobile unit, ensuring no increase in vehicle movements at the site.
